While reading the NETS-T I was glad to se that I am not so far from a good way of integrating technology in my classroom. On the other hand I noticed that I need to work in some other areas that are as equally important as the ones I am covering. The standards and indicators that I am comfortable with are the number one; number two and standard number four.
1.-Facilitate and Inspire Student learning and Creativity Teachers use their knowledge of subject matter, teaching and learning, and technology to facilitate experiences that advance student learning, creativity, and innovation in both face-to-face and virtual environments.
2.-Design and Develop Digital-Age Learning Experiences and Assessments Teachers design, develop, and evaluate authentic learning experiences and assessments incorporating contemporary tools and resources to maximize content learning in context and to develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes identified in the NETS•S.
4.Promote and Model Digital Citizenship and Responsibility
Teachers understand local and global societal issues and responsibilities in
evolving digital culture and exhibit legal and ethical http://www.iste.org/AM/Template.cfm?Section=NETS
In my school corporation the integration of technology in the classroom it is a serious matter. All teachers are asked to follow the Universal Design of learning and plan all their lessons according to this principle. One of the biggest factors this principle promotes is the use of technology in the classroom as a learning resource. I was feeling happy because I thought that what I was integrating in my class was perfect.
Yesterday after reading the NETS-T, I found that in fact I am covering some standards and indicators but I am missing some more.
I will work my GAME plan to complete the standard number three and five that I have found very interesting and important as well as the ones I already apply.
3. Model Digital-Age Work and Learning
Teachers exhibit knowledge, skills, and work processes representative of an innovative professional in a global and digital society.
5. Engage in Professional Growth and Leadership
Teachers continuously improve their professional practice, model lifelong learning, and exhibit leadership in their school and professional
community by promoting and demonstrating the effective use of digital tools and resources. http://www.iste.org/AM/Template.cfm?Section=NETS
My Goal will be for me to integrate in my teaching programs that help me expose my students’ projects not only in our school or town but outside it. I will try to do that at least once a month. I will also try to enrich my technology knowledge at least one per semester.
The Action will consist of pairing with one of my colleagues that are familiar with the internet and the programs that we can use to expose our students projects. I will enroll in more technology professional developments for me to learn more ideas and ways of integrating it in my classroom. I will also try to read more articles and researches related to technology and education.
The Monitor method that I will use is to mark in my calendar every time I attend a professional development or at least read an article about technology. I will place a date for my students to learn something about global connection.
I will Evaluate my work by checking on the quality of my students’ projects and on how many times they had the opportunity to get in touch with a school form another county or state.
If I follow my GAME plan soon I will be covering standards three and five. This action will be very helpful for me and my students.

Hello,
ReplyDeleteI love your quest to have your students' work shared with the global community. It will give authenticity to their projects. One place you can try is classroom without borders. I think your students will love the idea of students from other countries viewing their work. I have never done this but aspire to it as well. Good luck!
Ruthie
I am pretty sure they will love to see their asssignmnets posted in a global form. Since they are not form this country they will be trilled to tell their friends in their native countries to see what we being doing here.
