One of the things I already did was to join my school’s Professional development committee. One of the biggest concers of this committee is the lack of technology training we have in our school. So we are already working on finding an inexpensive way of getting this trainings. We will be asking those teachers that are very computer natives to help us the ones who are not very good on it to become technology immigrants. Our next meting will be next week and we will start working on the schedules of the teachers whom accepted to help us with this little project.
My next step will be to look for a good and reliable reading resource for me to learn more about global projects. I am meeting with my librarian which she is our computer helper for her to recommend me some good articles. If any one of you have a good recommendation for me please let me know.
What I have learned so far is that not every body is willing to integrate and help you out with the implementation of technology. But If I persevere and work on it with the right people, I will be able to accomplish at least one of my goals before the end of this month. The implementation of technology in a school or in a clssroom requires of good planning and a great guididng, for that reason I am getting together with the people whom will help me to reach my goals.

Hi Raquel,
ReplyDeleteGood for you for joining your Professional Development committee. It is a wonderful feeling being in a room full of educators wanting the same outcome, technology training. You are right you need to surround yourself with those that have the same asspiration as you do.
A couple great sites for global projects is ePal and edutopia.org. I am a member of both. I have not done a project yet with either site, but I have been working on ideas with ePal.
Take Care,
Lynette Vega
When I first read your plan, I liked that you wanted to join the technology committee to learn more. What a great proactive move! I am part of my school's technology committee, however, we very rarely meet. It sounds like your committee is moving forward and working hard to help others.
ReplyDeleteTo find some great reading, you may want to check out blogs by technology gurus in our country. I have had the pleasure of seeing David Warlick speak at a conference and have found that he has very powerful ideas about how technology can change the classroom. By checking out his blog, you could gain an additional perspective! You could also peruse sites like ePals to find ideas for global projects and determine a project you may want to start with.
